However, the information may not be used to harass or commit a crime against any person. If you learn information about an offender, you may tell others. When calling the toll-free number, you will have to provide the offender's name, and one of four identifiers (either an exact address, date of birth, social security number or driver's license number).Īdditionally, law enforcement may tell the community about sex offenders living in the area. You may also call the Sex Offender Registry at 51 or 1-80 to get information about all levels of sex offenders. By law, DCJS cannot list Level 1 offenders on its website.Įffective March 15, 2010, you can now register to receive alerts – via e-mail, text message, fax or telephone – whenever a Level 2 or Level 3 sex offender listed on the public subdirectory moves to, or from, a community of interest to you or your family. The risk level determines how much information can be provided to the community. The court will hold a risk level hearing and assign a level to the offender prior to release. When an incarcerated offender is set to be released into the community, the Board of Examiners of Sex Offenders will evaluate the case and provide a risk level recommendation to the court.
